My Story
You've read every book. Followed every protocol. Built the spreadsheet, hired the coach, done the therapy, tracked the macros.
And somewhere in the gap between knowing exactly what to do and actually doing it, you started wondering if you were just fundamentally broken.
You're not broken. You've just been handed someone else's story and told to live in it.
Hi. I'm Kayla MacDonald. Food freedom and embodiment coach, writer, certified Dance Alchemy® facilitator, podcast host, and the person who accidentally invented a healing modality where spicy fan fiction meets somatics, shadow work, and the divine masculine archetypes of your dreams.
I didn't design this on purpose. I survived my way into it.
I survived a painful childhood by writing. I navigated heartbreak and sacred rage by imagining safe, steady characters who never left. I manifested dream jobs, epic love, and entirely new identities through the pages of journals I never meant for anyone else to read.
I'd been using story, archetypes, and imagination as healing tools since I was twelve years old. Around 2024, I started doing it on purpose.
Before that, I spent over a decade trying to fix my relationship with food the proper way. Personal trainer. Health coach. Nutrition certifications, mindset work, therapy, hypnosis, somatic healing. Six+ years working full time with clients while quietly falling apart behind the scenes.
The only thing that ever actually rewired me from the inside out was turning my inner world into a love story. Giving my pain a plot. Giving my coping mechanisms characters. Giving my healing a pulse.
So I built a method around it. One that fuses parts work, nervous system rewiring, eating psychology, somatic dance, shadow integration, and narrative identity into something the wellness industry has never seen and probably wouldn't approve of.
My certifications include training through:
The Institute for the Psychology of Eating
Dance Alchemy®
Inner Coach & Inner Coach Mastery
Precision Nutrition
Quantum Healing Academy
I also hold a BA in English and Creative Writing from Simon Fraser University — which means I know a little something about using character development, plot twists, and narrative identity to create real-life change.
I am also the author of nine books. Including a dystopian erotica series, a paranormal romance series featuring were-sharks, and Food Freedom Fantasy.
(Yes. Were-sharks. This woman contains multitudes.)

The method is called Food Freedom Fantasy. It's sensory, story-driven, and genuinely unlike anything else in the wellness space — because it treats your inner world not as a problem to manage but as a mythology to inhabit.
It's how high-performing, deeply feeling women finally break free from binge eating, emotional eating, and self-sabotage — not by getting stricter with themselves, but by falling in love with the parts of themselves they were taught to shame.
When I'm not making Haven blush or bratting Rex, I'm usually cuddling my golden retriever husband Chris and our actual golden retriever Wylder, recording a podcast episode, dancing in my living room, or running through the mountains of beautiful Northern British Columbia.
I host the Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast — 250+ episodes on food freedom, embodiment, creativity, nervous system healing, self-trust, sensuality, and the sacred art of becoming the woman you were always meant to be.
You don't need another plan. You need a plot twist.
